Daytona Rising Project Forges On

In addition to hosting events during Budweiser Speedweeks 2014 and the 56th annual DAYTONA 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, Daytona International Speedway continued construction on the Daytona Rising project. The Speedway is now gearing up for Daytona 200 Week on March 7-15.
A recap of key construction activities during February and March includes February includes installation of steel installation and detailing in the east and west ends of the project, stair installation in the east and west ends, concrete footing installation near Injector 1 on the west end of the project and a poured concrete wall for Injector 2, as well as poured concrete for decks near the west end of project and continued masonry work on the east end near Injector 4, known as the Toyota Injector.
“We’ve been able to make significant progress during our busiest time of the year,” said Daytona International Speedway President Joie Chitwood III. “We will continue to build on the recent momentum and are also committed to delivering a great experience to fans during DAYTONA 200 Week.”

Due to Daytona Rising construction activities, demo rides will move to the Speedway’s backstretch near Midway Boulevard from Friday, March 7 through Saturday, March 15 (Harley-Davidson will continue running demo rides from the usual location at the corner of Richard Petty Boulevard and Midway Boulevard). Motorcycle fans may enter at Gate 70 off Midway Blvd. via motorcycle or car. A tram will also be running continuously from the Midway in Turn 4 to the demo ride area for those on foot.
