The father and stepmother of former NASCAR
driver Robby Gordon died yesterday in an apparent murder-suicide
Police responded to an Orange,
California home owned by Gordon on the 1400 block of North Kennymead Street at
approximately 5 p.m. Wednesday, after a
family friend requested a welfare check. Inside, they discovered the bodies of 68-year
old Robert Gordon and his wife Sharon, 57. A weapon was discovered inside the
home and authorities say the deaths appear to be a murder-suicide.
Gordon is a three-time winner
in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, most recently winning a pair of road course
events at Sonoma and Watkins Glen in 2003, while driving for Richard Childress
Racing. In recent seasons, he has raced on the SPEED Energy Formula Off-Road Series,
which he also owns.
So sad. Prayers for the entire family at ybis most difficult time.
ReplyDeleteThat is absolutely heartbreaking. My prayers to the Gordon family and friends.
ReplyDeleteSo so sad lot's of prayers out to the family this really breaks my heart
ReplyDeleteThis is so devastating and shocking! The Gordon family is close, real close. I know Demons can lie deep underneath, but I dont think anyone saw this coming. Bob was by Robby's side and involved in all his adventures.
ReplyDeleteWe as a family are heading to the Sand Sport Show this weekend and that is also were Robby's Stadium Truck series is racing. We planned to go watch the race, and would have expected to see Bob walking around doing his thing. Same when going down to the Baja 500, Dakar, Indy or NASCAR. You could always find Bob.
Our thoughts and prayer are with the Gordon Family. This is going to be a hard one, not only for the Gordon's to heal from, but for many in the off-road and horse raising & racing communities to get over.
GodSpeed Bob & Sharon Gordon.
