Roush
Fenway Racing has announced the addition of Gray Gaulding to its developmental
program. Gaulding, who hails from Colonial Heights, Va., will make his NASCAR
XFINITY Series debut behind the wheel of the No. 60 Ford Mustang in the August
19th race at Bristol Motor Speedway. He is also slated to run the NXS race in
September at his ‘home’ track of Richmond.
“I’m
very excited to become a part of Roush Fenway Racing’s Developmental program
and I can’t wait to get behind the wheel for my XFINITY Series debut later this
year at Bristol,” said Gaulding, who made his ARCA Series debut earlier this
season at Daytona. “Roush Fenway has proven to be second to none in developing
drivers within the NASCAR garage. I think their record speaks for itself. Jack
Roush is the most successful owner in XFINITY Series history and it’s a great
honor to be able to break into the XFINITY Series in a Roush Fenway Ford
Mustang.”
The
18-year old Gaulding has made 13 starts in the NASCAR Camping World Truck
Series, including a fourth-place finish at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park in
2014. He has made 38 starts in the NASCAR K&N East Series, including four
starts at Bristol where he earned a pair of Top-10s and posted a runner-up
finish in 2014. He also has five starts in the K&N West Series,
including a win at Phoenix in 2013.
“We’re
pleased to be able to give Gray the opportunity to cut his teeth in the XFINITY
Series this season,” said Roush Fenway president Steve Newmark. “He is a
talented young driver and we are happy that we can help play a role in his
growth and progression as he continues forward in his NASCAR career.”
