NASCAR has issued penalties to the No. 09 team in the NASCAR
Nationwide Series, as a result of rules infractions found on July 22 during
post-race inspection at Chicagoland Speedway.
Crew chief Scott Zipadelli has been fined $10,000 and placed on
NASCAR probation until Sept. 5 for violating Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental
to stock car racing); 12-4J (any determination by NASCAR officials that race
equipment used in the event does not conform to NASCAR rules detailed in
Section 20A of the rule book or has not been approved by NASCAR prior to the
event); 20A-2.3A (improperly attached weight); and 20A-2.4B (car failed to meet
minimum weight requirements in post-race inspection). Car chief Travis Young
has been placed on NASCAR probation until Sept. 5 for the same infractions.
Driver Kenny Wallace and owner Robby Benton have been penalized
with the loss of six championship driver and six championship owner points for
violating Sections 12-1; 12-4J; and 20A-2.4B.
