Wallace will run the Brickyard |
Hot off a season-best fourth
place finish in the STP 300 at Chicagoland Speedway Sunday, Kenny Wallace has
confirmed that he will drive the No. 24 SR2 Motorsports Toyota this weekend at Indianapolis
Motor Speedway.
“SR2 has fielded cars for
Benny Gordon this season, and they did a deal with John Wes Townley earlier
this year at Talladega,” said Wallace today. “John Wes is my teammate at RAB
Racing, so there’s a relationship there. Family Farmers, American Ethanol and
the National Corn Growers Association came up with some money a few days ago,
and said, `Kenny, we want you in that race at Indianapolis.’ RAB Racing could
not field a second car on such short notice, so I started asking around, and
eventually got together with the guys at SR2 Motorsports.
“The car will be a Toyota Camry
with a brand new Triad motor, and we’ll be locked into the race with enough tires to race competitively on.”
Wallace said the deal was completed before his fourth-place finish
yesterday made him eligible for a $100,000 bonus through the Nationwide Dash
For Cash program.
