Busch Fined, Loses License For 45 Days

Kyle Busch is $1,000 poorer today and will forfeit his North Carolina driver's license for 45 days after pleading guilty to speeding and no contest to reckless and careless driving in North Carolina District Court in Iredell County today. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series points leader was also sentenced to 30 hours of community service and given one year of unsupervised probation.

Busch was clocked at 128 mph in a 45 mph zone May 24m driving a borrowed, 2012 Lexus sports car valued at nearly $400,000. The sanctions will not impact his ability to race in NASCAR.

  1. I'd have to say he got off very lucky, but since he has been very honest about what he did, it sort of makes sense I guess.

  3. Not true. The penalties he received are standard for that degree of infraction.

  4. Agree with Moody. Penalty was what most people would have gotten. I could even see some people NOT loosing their license but he did. Only luck he has is he has $ to hire a driver for 45 days if needed where average citizen wouldn't.

In sports like boxing and mma if you ply your trade outside of the ring or cage your license will be pulled and you will not be able to fight. I think that NASCAR should do the same thing. I like Kyle but that is to much. If I do more than 15 MPH over the posted speed limit my license is taken for at lest 6 months. The price of being a professional driver with a CD.

  7. That's also not true. Boxing/MMA athletes are not suspended for fighting outside the ring. If that were the case, former heavyweight boxing champion Larry Holmes would have been banned from boxing for his street fight with Mitch "Blood" Green.

The difference between Kyle Busch and a truck driver is that the driver cannot work without an OTR drivers license. Kyle can, since NASCAR does not require a street drivers license.
