Cale Conley, driver of
the #14 TriStar Motorsports NASCAR Xfinity Series Toyota, announced today that
he has ended his 2015 race season prematurely, due to a lack of sponsorship and
team funding.
“I would like to thank the TriStar Motorsports organization and
owner Mark Smith for giving me this opportunity to race at tracks I had not
visited in the past,” said Conley. “I am really looking forward to
finalizing my 2016 race season plans and I am excited to see everyone at
Daytona International Speedway in February. I want to thank all of my loyal
fans, my family and the support from the members of the Iraq and Afghanistan
Veterans of America.”
Conley currently ranks 19th in the NASCAR XFINITY
Series championship standings, with a pair of 16th-place finishes at
Auto Club and Kentucky Speedways.
...and yet the lackluster Justin A who had six years to show improvement is still looming due someone seeing something that his numbers don't show...and Sadler who ran for just about every team there is. JMR is taking the money...zero talent development. How is this series going to survive when the likes of Justin and Elliot are recycled with new teams, and the truly good potential drivers that need a shot are shut out. The results will certainly be the same with Justin and Elliot. Too bad. They had their day in the sun, more than once. I don't feel they are worthy of this chance they are given. Cale you showed promise, sorry bout that. Hopefully something else will happen. I don't think this series is going to survive with this business model and decisions.
ReplyDeleteSad thing is that racing is one of the most expensive sports there is. Dale JR, a few weeks ago explained that he can not run drivers who don't bring sponsorship with them. He has over 100 employees who depend on that company and he said he can not afford to run a car without said sponsorship. I agree that the series is in trouble and having the Gibbs and Penske cars always taking the top money does not help the lower level teams.
DeleteMaybe he can be a teammate to Austin Self who's dad just put together a new Camping World Truck team? Wait; maybe not. He would still need to bring sponsorship to the table because people with $ need more $ and don't like to spend their own.
ReplyDeleteReal soon the series will be starting the same number as the truck series. Already down to 40 with maybe 6 fill ins per race and no sponsorships to fund up and coming drivers,.tired of watching two cup races every weekend anyway.The same teams win even with different drivers.Cale did an exceptional job taking a 25th place car and finishing 19th in standings. I just hope he gets another chance to kick ass on a well funded fast team.Good luck Conley
