The pressure is on Logano. |
“We knew that bringing Jason
Ratcliffe on as crew chief, it was going to take a little while for him to
figure things out,” said Gibbs on Sirius XM NASCAR Radio’s Sirius XM Speedway with Dave Moody. “I think he’s done a great job,
and there’s a great partnership among all our crew chiefs.”
Gibbs said he was encouraged
by Logano’s tenth-place finish last weekend at Darlington Raceway, and hopes it
will provide momentum for the team going forward.
“Joey rocked it,’ he said. “He
bounced off the wall, came right back and finished up tenth. I think all the
guys are looking forward to getting some momentum going. Fifteenth (in points)
is better than last year, but we need to be in that Chase.”
Both Logano and sponsor Home
Depot are in the final year of their respective contracts with JGR.
Wouldn't it be ironic if the season came to an end and Logano and Home Depot landed together at a different organization?
ReplyDeleteLogano ending up somewhere else could be the break out moment of his career, like it was for Kyle Busch. Although, as a Cup star, Kyle has been disappointing relative to the endgame. Joey performs great in NNS and mediocre in Cup. Kyle performs great in NNS and better than mediocre in Cup, but falls just as short of the goals Gibbs has for him as Joey does.
Anyone got the feeling HD might just end up back with Tony? Three cars next year, they're all going to need sponsorship.
ReplyDeleteJust think if Home depot went back to Tony Stewart?
ReplyDeleteLogano is gettng it together at the right time and will be rewarded with a 2 year contract at the end of the season.
ReplyDeleteSponsors cannot say enough about both Hamlin and Logano which is the impetus behind the contract.
