David Reutimann now has a
ride for every race on the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
BK Racing announced today that
it will field a third Toyota Camry for Reutimann in the eight Sprint Cup Series
races he does not drive for Tommy Baldwin Racing; beginning with Sunday’s Coca-Cola
600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Reutimann will pilot the No. 73 Burger King/Dr
Pepper Toyota in those eight events, and TBR’s #10 Chevrolet in the balance of
the schedule.
Reutimann has run two races
for BK Racing already this season, driving the No. 93 Toyota in the season-opening
Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway and the Bojangles Southern 500 at
Darlington Raceway. Landon Cassill will remain in the No. 83 Toyota, with
Travis Kvapil in the team’s No. 93 entry for the remainder of the season.
"Everyone at BK Racing
is excited to solidify a third car for David Reutimann," said Scott
Gunderson, president of BK Racing. "I know that he will strengthen our
organization with the talent and experience he brings to the table. Reutimann
has been a big part of BK Racing this year and we look forward to working with
him for the rest of the season. I want to thank Burger King and Dr Pepper for
helping make this happen."
As a result of running only
two races this season, BK Racing’s No. 73 team is outside the Top-35 in the
owner points, and will have to make this weekend’s race on time.
"The 73 team has
already proven to be a contender," Reutimann said. "BK Racing has
great equipment and personnel. They've shown that they can get the job done and
I'm really excited to continue racing with them. We're already off to a good
start and the team is continuing to improve. Travis and Landon are terrific
teammates and I think having a third car among us will give us better
information and more resources to keep strengthening."
Did he get to sign-off on the poor photoshop job? Looks like David's head on Kvapil's body.
