Report: Penske Brothers Booked On B&E Charges

Jay Penske
The Nantucket (MA) Inquirer and Mirror is reporting today that two of Roger Penske’s sons, including IndyCar team owner Jay Penske, were arrested after an alleged break-in and assault at the Nantucket Yacht Club early Thursday.
Jay Penske, 33, and Mark Penske, 35, were arrested after two women called local police to report that they had been assaulted in the Yacht Club’s parking lot shortly before 2 a.m. Police responded, and two men later identified as the Penske brothers ran to a house on club property, where they were apprehended. One of the women reportedly accused Jay Penske of urinating on her boots
Jay and Mark Penske were held overnight in the Nantucket Police Department’s holding facility and released today after being arraigned on charges of breaking and entering. They are scheduled to appear for a pre-trial hearing set for Monday, Aug. 20.

Roger didn't turn his back on AJ..he made a business decision that was probably outlined very clearly in AJ's contract. Sometimes business decisions can seem cold but Penske couldn't set a precedent of employees failing drug tests and keeping thier jobs. If AJ wasn't fired, in the future if someone sweeping the floors in the garage for minimum wage were to be fired for failing a drug test they could file a huge 6 or 7 figure wrongful termination lawsuit. Business decisions like AJ's termination are often just as hard on the person that does the firing because they have no choice and have to do it.

  10. What a tough year for Penske. These kinds of stories no one wants to read/hear. Between last year with Kurt Busch combined with this year's drama, 2013 can only be better, right?

Kurt, terminated for anger issues, AJ, terminated for a mistake not worthy of termination.

I wonder if Penske will treat these yahoos like he treats his employees, since this is far more serious.

Penske, raising great kids for 35 years.

  16. I'll bet those 2 fine young gentlemen never meant to sprinkle anyone's Uggs. I'm sure growing up with a multi-billionaire father gave them no sense of entitlement. This has to be some kind of mistake.

If its true, I hope they are made to pay their debt to society alongside every other common criminal. For as long as every other common criminal would be made to pay for the same crime.

    Better?

  17. At what point do you get too old to urinate on a stranger's shoes? Maybe the woman was committing a fashion crime...

I personaly think if the "CAPTAIN" Is going to make business decisions like letting Kurt go and AJ the moral thing to do in this case would be relieving his children from there duties. He has set a high bar for zero tolerance , there know need in backing down now. in my opinion if these men are tried and convicted and he let's them keep there positions at Penske Racing he should consider puting AJ back in the Shell Pennzoil machine.
