Aric Almirola is under the
weather this morning what his Richard Petty Motorsports team hopes is a 24-hour
virus.
In an effort to allow Almirola
to rest and recover, two-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion Matt
Crafton will practice RPM’s No. 43 Armour Ford today at Michigan International
Speedway.
A statement issued by the team
said, “The plan is for Almirola to make limited laps in practice in order to
qualify the car today and retain his starting spot in Sunday’s race.”
I think it says a lot about Ford's truck program (or the lack thereof) that Petty has to have a Toyota driver practice the 43. Is there a sponsor conflict with BKI/Penske or would Penske just not make Blaney or Reddick available? If it is the latter, that's not good for Ford either.
