Cassill Happy With BK Racing's Start

Just two weeks into his tenure with the new BK Racing Team, driver Landon Cassill said he couldn’t be more proud of the progress made by the fledgling NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team.
Cassill’s No. 83 Toyota ran well at both Daytona and Phoenix, only to be caught up in a pair of incidents that dropped him outside the Top 20. Despite that misfortune, Cassill said the team’s performance has been encouraging. "I'm really proud of what BK Racing has accomplished so far,” he said. “For two races in a row, we've had strong cars and we've been really competitive. We were definitely capable of finishing inside the top-20. Unfortunately we've been caught up in someone else's wreck each week. I know if we keep putting cars on the track that are as good as they've been so far, we're going to have a great season. Since BK Racing opened its doors in February, we've hit the ground running and I don't see us slowing down any time soon."

BK Racing started the 2012 season well behind the eight-ball, after acquiring assets from the former Red Bull Racing after the first of the year. Veteran crew chief Doug Richert signed on to oversee Cassill’s half of the fledgling, two-car team, and he and his driver have meshed well.Doug made good adjustments during our pit stops (at Phoenix) that made the car better and better. Toward the end of the race, we were running laps right up there with the leaders. I ended up getting hit by another car and pushed into the wall. The impact disconnected our oil line and we had to go behind the wall for repairs. It would have been really easy for us to pack things up and quit the race after that, but I'm really proud of my team for not throwing in the towel. That 'never say die' attitude paid off and they fixed up the BK Racing car and got me back on the track.”

Cassill makes his second NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start at Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend, and if you happen to out and about in the area of the speedway, Cassill has made surprise appearances at local Burger King restaurants in each of the last two weeks, handing out free food coupons to race fans.
