The bad news is that the forecast deteriorates markedly as race time approaches. Sunshine, temperatures in the mid-50s and a paltry 10% chance of rain greeted race teams as they arrived at the track this morning, and those conditions should hold through approximately noon local time. As the “Auto Club 400” NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race approaches, however, the chance of rain skyrockets to 70%, a forecast that holds right through midnight.
If Mother Nature remains uncooperative, NASCAR will hold to its longstanding “next clear day” policy, likely rescheduling the event for a late morning (local time) Monday green flag.
