WORX Yard Tools is sponsoring the car, continuing their
relationship with Piquet Jr. following his full-time campaign in the NASCAR
Nationwide Series last season in the No. 30 car. This season, Piquet has been
competing full-time for SH Racing Rallycross in the Red Bull Global Rallycross
series. He currently leads the championship point standings by 46 points after
five of 10 races.
Piquet earned a Top-10 finish in his Nationwide Series debut at
Watkins Glen International in 2010. The Brasilia, Brazil native and former
Formula One racer earned his first series pole and win at Road America in 2012,
in his third career start. In 54 career Truck Series races, Piquet Jr. has two
wins, 15 Top-5 and 28 Top-10 finishes.
"Ever since I made my NASCAR Nationwide Series debut at The
Glen in 2010, I've wanted to do the same in a Sprint Cup car," said Piquet.
"I've really enjoyed racing in other series this year, but I've missed
being in the NASCAR garage. I'm very grateful to Randy Humphrey, Bray Pemberton
and WORX Yard Tools for making this opportunity happen."
"Nelson Piquet Jr. is an extremely talented race car
driver," said Humphrey. "It's been impressive to watch him race, not
just in NASCAR, but in Formula One and Rallycross as well. He's excelled at all
levels of racing and we're very excited about his Sprint Cup Series debut with
RHR."
Randy Humphrey Racing makes its return to Sprint Cup competition
after a complete restructuring of the organization. The team will now be led by
veteran crew chief Steven Lane. RHR intends to run at a competitive level in a
limited schedule of events for the remainder of the season.
