Blaney Becomes Truck Series' Youngest Winner

Blaney takes the Iowa checkers.
Eighteen-year-old Ryan Blaney became the youngest winner in the history of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Saturday night at Iowa Speedway, turning back challenges on a series of late restarts to win the American Ethanol 200 Presented by Hy-Vee.
Driving a Dodge Ram for Brad Keselowski Racing, the third-generation driver fended off a late charge by title contender Ty Dillon to claim his first career Truck Series victory by a margin of .168 seconds. The win was the first for the manufacturer since Dennis Setzer went to Victory Lane at Martinsville Speedway on March 29, 2008.
"This is pretty incredible," said Blaney, who won in only his third career Camping World Truck Series start. "Hopefully, we can get us a few more here."
Dillon finished second to assume the series’ championship points lead from Timothy Peters, who crashed with Matt Crafton on Lap 34 and pitted numerous times for repairs en route to a 19th-place finish, two laps down. Dillon said he “"wanted (the win) bad there at the end. We were coming, but Ryan Blaney is an amazing driver. I'm glad we didn't have to race against him all year year.
“He's a great guy, and he really deserves this."
Title contender James Buescher appeared ready to claim the points lead until a spin with just six laps remaining relegated him to 17th place at the finish. Dillon now leads the title chase by eight points over Peters and 11 over Buescher as the series heads to Kentucky Speedway next Saturday.

Also the first win for Brad Keselowski Racing. In all the excitement everyone is forgetting that, Which is no small accomplishment for Brad.

To continue on Debbie's comment... BKR's first win, started next to Parker Kligerman, who was recently released from that very truck to go to Red Horse Racing. Brad Keselowski himself drove the truck and commented that it wasn't very good just a few races back. Wonder what changes (other than driver) they've made.

Great job by Ryan Blaney. He's making a name for himself.

  3. This kid has some speed. He's humble, young, and can wheel a race car. I don't know what the Blaney clan eats for breakfast, but I bet they eat fast. Congrats Ryan.
