Actor,
comedian and writer David Spade, who stars in Crackle’s upcoming original movie
“Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser” will serve as the Grand Marshal for the 57th
annual Coke Zero 400 Powered By Coca-Cola on Sunday night, July 5 at Daytona
International Speedway.
In
this sequel to the popular Columbia Pictures comedy “Joe Dirt,” Spade returns
as the mullet-headed hero in this first ever made-for-digital sequel to a major
motion picture that also stars Christopher Walken, Brittany Daniel and Patrick
Warburton. “Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser” will be released on the streaming
network July 16.
As
the Grand Marshal, Spade will give the command “Drivers, start your engines,”
as well as attend the driver’s meeting, participate in pre-race ceremonies and
ride in one of the Grand Marshal cars during the pace laps prior to the green
flag of the 160-lap, 400-mile race.
“We’re
excited to welcome David Spade as Grand Marshal for the Coke Zero 400 Powered
By Coca-Cola,” Daytona International Speedway President Joie Chitwood said.
“His starting command, which will be delivered in front of thousands of fans
and millions more watching on NBC, will begin an exciting night of NASCAR
racing on the high banks.”
Spade,
who was a cast member on “Saturday Night Live” from 1990-1996, has starred in
several hit comedies including “Tommy Boy,” “Black Sheep” and “Grown Ups” as
well as on the ensemble CBS sitcom “Rules of Engagement.”
