Work
on a track resurfacing project at Watkins Glen International began today.
Following
the track’s recent SCCA U.S. Majors event, the section of the long course known
as "The Boot" – a section not used by NASCAR for its Sprint Cup and
XFINITY Series events -- was closed. Work has begun to tear up sections of the
old asphalt, in preparation for resurfacing.
Work
will begin on the remainder of the historic circuit following the completion of
the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Cheez-It 355 on Sunday, August 9.
