Hendrick Tells Life Story To Sirius XM Speedway Legends

The award-winning Sirius XM Speedway Legends series debuts a new, hour long interview today at 6 pm ET, when host Dave Moody goes one-on-one with Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick.
Born July 12, 1949, in Warrenton, North Carolina, Hendrick grew up on the family farm and was drawn to motorsports from a very young age. Along with his father, the late “Papa Joe” Hendrick, he worked as a crewmember on the legendary Tant/Mitchell “Flying 11” modified coupes driven by Ray Hendrick (no relation). As a car owner, his Hendrick Motorsports teams have amassed 14 NASCAR National Series championships, 244 total race wins and 230 poles; second only to the legendary Petty Enterprises and tops in the sport’s modern era.

He also built an automotive empire that presently includes 82 dealerships and more than 7,000 employees across 12 states.

“Rick Hendrick is truly an icon in the sport,” said Moody, “and we’re thrilled to be able to hear his story, in his own words. We have recorded nearly 100 Sirius XM Speedway Legends over the last decade, with many of the biggest names in motorsports. `Mr. H’ ranks right up there with the best of them.

“His story is one of incredible triumph and unfathomable tragedy, and we are honored that he agreed to share it with our listeners.”

Sirius XM Speedway Legends airs as part of Sirius XM Speedway, heard weekdays from 3 to 7 pm ET on Sirius XM NASCAR Radio, Channel 90.
