“This car was trashed,” said Godfather
Motorsports crew chief Jim Gallison, Jr. “In all our years of racing, we have
never suffered so much damage in a single crash. We had destroyed parts from
bumper to bumper -- broken rear axles and a bent rear-end tube, broken shock
absorbers, a destroyed front chassis clip, upper and lower control arms, ball
joints, radiator, wheels – it was a long list. But the guys pulled together and
put in a superhuman effort. We’re back together and ready to race this weekend.”
Brooks and the Trinity Oaks/KOMA Unwind team will debut a new Ford Mustang body from ARBodies on the No. 30 Super Late Model this weekend, and Brooks said he is highly motivated to finish the season with a top finish.
“It would have been easy to fold our tent
and call it a season after the wreck at Caraway,” said Brooks. “But we’ve got
the most supportive sponsors in the sport, and we owe it to them to finish the
season on a high note. It’s going to be a little like starting over this
weekend, but this team doesn’t quit. We’ll do whatever it takes.”
Saturday’s “Mason Dixon Meltdown” is highlighted by a
200-lap event for the Pro All Stars Series Super Late Models; a race that will
determine both the PASS National and South Series champions. Also on the docket
are the winged, 410-cubic inch Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Cars, PASS Pro
Late Models and Mini Cup cars. Pit gates open at 9 AM Saturday, with practice
from 10:45 AM – 1 PM. Qualifying will begin at 1:30 PM, with racing to commence
at 3:00.
