Rockin’ Rodney Brooks and the Trinity Oaks Senior Living/KOMA Unwind Ford team travel to Caraway Speedway in Sophia, NC this weekend for one of the showcase events in Super Late Model racing; the 11th Annual John Blewett Memorial North-South Shootout.
Saturday afternoon’s 150-lap event is expected to attract more than 30 top race teams from away as Maine, Wisconsin and Canada, and Brooks said he looks forward to testing himself and his team against some of the top operations in the sport.
“We’ve had four good races since Dave Moody and Jim Gallison, Jr. asked me to drive their Trinity Oaks/KOMA Unwind Ford,” said Brooks. “I feel like we’ve had a good enough car to win a couple of those races, and with just a little bit of luck on Saturday afternoon, we can take the winner’s trophy home. This would be a great weekend to get our first win, since we’ll have a busload of residents and staff from Trinity Oaks Senior Living Community in the grandstands rooting us on.
“I’d love to take a photo with them in Victory Lane.”
Action gets under way on Friday afternoon with practice and qualifying for the PASS South Super Late Models. On Saturday, racing begins at 2 PM with 150 laps for the PASS Super Late Models, 125 laps for the Modifieds, 50 laps for Southern Modified Lite division, 25 laps for the Legends cars and twin 50 lappers for the Limited Late Models and Late Model Super Trucks. A special on-track Fan Appreciation Party will take place from 12:30 to 1:30 pm, giving fans an opportunity to meet their favorite drivers and collect autographs. The Godfather Motorsports team will hand out complimentary samples of KOMA Unwind Liquid Relaxation Drink, as well. The 150-lap Pro All Stars Series event is scheduled to take the green flag at approximately 2:00 PM.
