TriStar Motorsports has
announced the addition of NASCAR veteran David Starr to the team's driver
roster for the 2014 NASCAR Nationwide Series season, beginning with the season
opener at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, February 22nd.
"This is an
extremely exciting time for me personally, and for my remarkable
partners," said Starr. "Mark and Kathy Smith are great friends
of mine, and I have enjoyed watching them over the last few years build their
race team into a quality organization with fast cars. I couldn't be more
thrilled to be a part of TriStar Motorsports and to have the power of PME
Engines under the hood of my Toyota Camry this season."
Starr, a Houston, Texas
native, is widely known for his participation in the NASCAR Camping World Truck
Series. He ranks third on the all-time Truck Series career start list, after
competing in more than 315 races. He has raced in select NASCAR Sprint Cup
Series and Nationwide Series events.
"I'm excited for
the opportunity to race in the NASCAR Nationwide Series," commented
Starr. "This will be a bit of a change from racing in the Camping
World Truck Series, but I'm excited and eager for a new challenge."
TriStar Motorsports team
owner, Mark Smith commented on the move, saying, "We are happy to have
David on board this season at TriStar Motorsports. We have been friends for a
while and I look forward to working with him during the 2014 season. "
Starr will be joining
TriStar Motorsports drivers Mike Bliss, Blake Koch, Jeff Green, Eric McClure
and Will Kimmel for the 2014 season. Additional announcements regarding
Starr's partnerships for the 2014 season will be released in the upcoming
weeks.
