Keselowski, Allgaier Teams Fined By NASCAR

Brad Keselowski and crew chief Paul Wolfe will be on probation for the remainder of the 2015 Sprint Cup Series season, after NASCAR determined that Team Penske personnel altered the rear wheel wells on Keselowski's No. 2 Ford following pre-qualifying inspection at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Friday.

Wolfe was assessed a P2 penalty – on a scale of one to six – after NASCAR forced the team to fix its car and submit it for an additional pre-qualifying inspection. The sanctioning body outlawed the flaring of fenders and side skirts during the off-season, after teams made increasingly large adjustments during races in search of an aerodynamic advantage.

Also Tuesday, NASCAR announced that driver Justin Allgaier and crew chief Steve Addington have been fined $25,000 each, after Allgaier's car was found to be too light in post-race inspection at LVMS. Addington was assessed a P3 penalty for failing to secure ballast in the No. 51 HScott Motorsports Chevrolet, allowing a piece of tungsten ballast to fall out of the car during the race.

The car failed to meet minimum weight requirements following the event.

Team owner Harry Scott commented on the penalty in a written statement last night, saying, “The issue was unintentional and we regret its occurrence. Going forward, we have implemented additional procedures to ensure that we do not have a repeat incident."

  1. What is with this team? A couple of years ago Brad accused the Hendrick teams of cheating with the rear ends in their cars. NASCAR said what Hendrick teams where doing was within specs but that there would be no tolerance at the start of the next season. Penske got a big time penalty at the start of last season for doing the same thing Hendrick had been doing the previous year, after NASCAR said there would be no tolerance for that! Now they try pulling out the rear quarters after NASCAR said over the winter that they would not tolerate that starting this season. Not too bright!!! And yet when cheating is brought up, the only name ever mentioned is Chad Knaus. Penske must be trying to take the top spot on the cheaters list. Not too smart!!!
