Rondeau To Step Down As FRR Crew Chief

Rondeau (L) and Smith have struggled.
Crew chief Pete Rondeau will spend his final day as crew chief of Regan Smith’s No. 78 Furniture Row Racing Chevrolet Sunday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Rumors of a shakeup at the Colorado-based team have circulated widely in recent days, and sources now confirm that Rondeau will step down as crew chief following Sunday’s race. He will remain with Furniture Row Racing, assuming a position with the team’s Research and Development wing. There is no word on who will replace him. Calls to the team seeking confirmation today were not immediately returned.

Smith is currently 26th in points, and still seeks his first Top-10 finish of the season.

The team would improve by getting rid of Joe Garone (sp).
