Double duty for Gaughan |
“I’ll be running the No. 51 Chevrolet
for James Finch this weekend,” said Gaughan on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio’s SiriusXM Speedway. “He’s an old buddy of
mine, and you’ve got to like a guy like him. He has spent his own money forever
in this sport and he’s won some races along the way. For a one-car team, James
has succeeded more than anyone else I can think of. I’m happy to add my name to
the myriad of drivers who have sat in the No. 51 this year.
“Mr. Finch had an open date on
the schedule and asked if it was something I’d be interested in doing,” said
Gaughan. “I’m always interested, and he has asked me (to drive for him) before when
the schedules didn’t work out. I talked it over with the bosses at Richard Childress
Racing and got their permission, and my boss (my father) also okayed it. So we’re
going to run that race and have some fun.
“It will be the South Point Resort
and Casino Chevy,” confirmed Gaughan, who currently stands sixth in the Truck
Series championship standings, 75 behind leader Matt Crafton. “We’re aiming for
a Top-20 finish, which would be one of their best showings of the year.”
