Date Set For Allmendinger's "B Sample" Test

AJ Allmendinger
AJ Allmendinger’s business manager says his much-anticipated “B Sample” test will take place next Tuesday, July 24.

“We now have a confirmed date for the testing of AJ’s “B” (split specimen) sample,” said Tara Ragan, Vice President of Allmendinger’s Walldinger Racing in a written statement. “The test will take place on Tuesday, July 24 at 8 a.m. CDT, and be conducted at the Aegis Analytical Laboratories in Nashville. Pursuant to the 2012 NASCAR Rulebook and in line with the procedures, we have elected to have a designated independent toxicologist present on AJ’s behalf.

“Along with everyone else, we are looking forward to hearing the results as quickly as possible,” she said. “AJ (has) truly appreciated the outpouring of support from fans, partners, and colleagues. It has meant a lot to us during this difficult time. We are also grateful to Mr. Penske and his management team for their patience and respect of the process we are going through.”

Am I the only person who thought A: it had to be tested 24-48 hours after the A test and B: it had already been done? What is going on here? Why such a delay? What is going on behind the scenes that hasn't been revealed to the public? This whole situation looks bad to me. Give the man justice give it IMMEDIATELY, enough with the delays.

I am disappointed in this so-called 'process' NASCAR has.

  2. Doug, take a moment off from being disgruntled to read the previous articles on thi topic. It has been clearly stated from the beginning that AJ had 72 hours from the time he was informed of a failed test result to REQUEST that the "B Sample" be tested. The delay is due to him (AJ) needing to obtain the services of his own toxicologist to monitor the "B" test. AFter requesting the test, he has 30 days to get it completed.

NASCAR is not denying AJ justice by dragging out the process. AJ and his representatives chose the July 24 date, not NASCAR.

I work for a company that does drug testing. The sample has up to 72 hours to be tested at room temperature before the specimine becomes too spoiled to use. If its refrigerated in a container with preservative....it will be safe to test. Hope this helps

Dave, does NASCAR ever give stats to the media in regards to how many individuals have been caught, suspended and/or reinstated since the new drug policy came into effect? From what I have heard on your show, AJ is a bt of a health nut and I am hoping that this is nothing more than a prescription that was not known to the ruling body. AJ is one of the stars I like to watch and hear on your show because he comes across as so genuine and grateful he gets to do what he does for a living. He seems to be one of the good guys.
