NASCAR Issues Ebola Guidelines For Texas Race Weekend

NASCAR sent a memo to teams today, sharing guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention outlining the transmission of the Ebola virus.

All three NASCAR National Series travel to Texas Motor Speedway this weekend. Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas has treated at least two Ebola patients in recent weeks, raising concern in come corners over the safety of teams, officials and fans.

The memo confirmed that Ebola can be contracted only by traveling to countries where there are outbreaks in progress, by coming into physical contact with individuals who have treated Ebola patients or by "coming into contact with someone who recently traveled from West Africa AND has symptoms of Ebola."

The memo says NASCAR will "continue to closely monitor the situation and remain in communication with our group of consulting physicians as well as our track partners and local public health officials.”

The sanctioning body did not recommend any changes to the daily routines for drivers or crewmembers, who come in regular contact with large numbers of fans.

Big sigh...was wondering how soon something like this would rear it's ugly head...but I bet it won't stop Bagman from hitting Babe's! Haven't been to the Roanoak location but our Cedar Hill one is very good!

    1. Right, because the odds of catching ebola at Babes is extraordinarily high. Especially during the orgy after dinner. Good grief....

My priest calls it Eboli every week during prayers for the faithful. I don't correct him though.

    4. Yes, you can get Eboli easy...which is why thousands and thousands of US citizens have been stricken with the disease. What a door knob.

    5. I'm heating that all those all those thousands who have contracted Eboli (pronounced like e-coli?) have been quarantined at Gitmo.

No, it's not pronounced like "e coli" because it's "Ebola" with an "A" on the end. Get it? Two different diseases.

    7. Next time I make a tongue-in-cheek comment, I'm gonna have to add a winking smiley face at the end so some people don't take me seriously. Sorry.

Over half a million (627, 000) people die from malaria each year, mostly children younger than five years old. There are an estimated 207 million cases of malaria each year. Any wonder why the CDC and other nation sates aren't doing more to prevent it.
