music. She is a four-time CMA Female Vocalist of the Year and has sold more
than 18 million albums, producing six No. 1 hit singles. Three-time ACM Female
Vocalist of the Year McBride was most recently nominated for Female Video of

"I am extremely
excited that the Indianapolis Motor Speedway has invited me to this year's Indy
500," McBride said. "It is a huge honor to sing the national anthem
at what is known as 'The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.'"
"We welcome
Martina McBride to IMS to perform 'The Star Spangled Banner' shortly before the
engines fire for the 96th Indianapolis 500,” said Jeff Belskus, Indianapolis
Motor Speedway Corporation president and chief executive officer. “Her
unforgettable voice and stage presence will add special meaning to this tribute
to our country and the veterans who have served it with great dedication and
sacrifice."
McBride's first album
on Republic Nashville, "ELEVEN," includes her current single,
"Marry Me," a collaboration with Train's Pat Monahan that is the
follow-up to her 25th career Top 10 single, "I'm Gonna Love You Through
It."
Having completed a
winter arena tour with fellow country music superstar George Strait, McBride
recently embarked on an intimate theater tour across the country, giving fans a
memorable and unique experience that also highlights her multitude of hit songs

Terrific! She's one of my all-time favorites.
ReplyDeleteWho's more happy? Martina for getting to sing the anthem or Moody for getting to see Martina? My guess is Moody.
ReplyDeleteEither way, it's a "win-win" situation. :-)
DeleteI wonder if I'll see the day when one of NASCAR's tracks asks anyone to sing the National anthem other than a country superstar, which they are prone to do, often, mostly, pretty much always.
ReplyDeleteNot my shot of whiskey.

@Anononymous at 5:03 pm. They do it often, but country does seem to be preferred. I haven't watched a pre-race recently but Steven Tyler comes to mind.
ReplyDelete@Moody et al
I wonder if the world will implode if she made a mistake. Not that i expect her to, but no one expected Aguilera would stumble after all the times she'd done amazing banner renditions.
