McClure Released From Hospital, Status For Darlington Uncertain

Eric McClure, driver of the No. 14 Hefty/Reynolds Wrap Toyota, was released late yesterday from the UAB Medical Center in Birmingham, AL where he was airlifted Saturday following a hard crash at Talladega Superspeedway.

McClure suffered a concussion and mild internal bruising and is expected to make a full recovery. He is resting at his home in Chilhowie, Va., today and will consult with a specialist today or tomorrow to determine his status for this weekend’s race at Darlington Raceway. NASCAR requires drivers who suffer concussions to receive clearance from a neurosurgeon before returning to competition.

Tri-Star Motorsports spokesperson Emily Brandt said McClure is "sore and needs to rest a few days, be with his family go to his doctor appointments.” He is scheduled to meet with the media in the Jim Hunter Media Center at Darlington Raceway Friday.
