Ingredients:
1 Canadian cook :)
2 slices Arnold's Sour Dough Bread
Vermont Maple Syrup -- We recommend www.morsefarm.com
1/2- 3/4 cup Egg Nog (Chicken Milk) of choice
1 Large egg
Butter
Cinnamon
Directions:
Heat butter in fry pan between med and high (--avoid burning the butter!)
Mix egg, cinnamon with egg nog in a bowl
Lay bread in egg nog/egg mixture to ensure both sides are covered
Lay bread in fry pan and sprinkle cinnamon on side facing up
Flip when crispy
Add butter to fry pan
Sprinkle cinnamon on remaining side
Ensure butter makes edges and both faces of toast crispy
If in doubt--add more butter (the crispier the better)
Serve with small pat of butter on face of toast and drench with Vermont Maple Syrup to taste.
Of course it is BEST served with a hot cup of Tim Horton's coffee.
ENJOY!
sounds good but im going with the canadian maple syrup...being canadian and all it seems the right thing to do lol. Everything is better with timmies coffee
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to try chicken milk french toast, with the best sourdough in the world from Boudin in S.F. The 'mother dough' they use to make the bread is from 1849!
ReplyDeleteEggnog and bacon pretty much make everything a little better.
I'm a little embarrassed to ask but, do you recommend going with the dark amber syrup, or the fancy?
Dude you are over thinking this, go with your gut. But whatever you do DON'T ruin it with starbucks "coffee". It is too bitter for the toast. Besides, it's a Canadian recipe, so Canadian coffee only. Other grocery store brands are acceptable just no starbucks.
