Ambrose To Race Nationwide At Mid-Ohio

Richard Petty Motorsports announced today that Marcos Ambrose will drive for the team in the “Nationwide Children's Hospital 200” NASCAR Nationwide Series event on Saturday, August 17 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The announcement was made today while Ambrose joined NASCAR officials in a visit to the Ohio State Capitol in Columbus. Ambrose will drive the No. 9 Stanley Ford as a teammate to Michael Annett in the No. 43 Pilot Travel Centers Ford.

Ambrose, who will also be competing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup race in Michigan the same weekend, will be making his 76th career NASCAR Nationwide Series start. He is a four-time winner in the series, all on road course circuits. Ambrose has also collected four poles, 16 top-10 and eight top-five finishes. This will be his first race at the Mid-Ohio track.

Last season was the first year that Ambrose did not compete in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. He is now ready to return to the series at its newest track. Seth Barbour will be the crew chief for the team.

"This will be a new challenge for everyone in the Nationwide Series and I'm thankful for Stanley and Richard Petty Motorsports working together to give me this opportunity," Ambrose said. "I missed racing in the Nationwide Series last season, but Mid-Ohio will be a great way to come back. We have Stanley supporting us the entire weekend and we want to give them a win."

Stanley has been a long-time sponsor of RPM and Ambrose. The company was a partner when Ambrose last won in the Nationwide Series in 2011 in Montreal.

"Marcos has proven to be a contender each time he enters a road course, " said Tony Merritt, Director of Motorsports Marketing, Stanley Black and Decker. "He represents our brand like a winner and hopefully he will be in Victory Lane during both NASCAR races that weekend. We're proud to be supporting his effort at both Mid-Ohio and Michigan this August."
