Dippel Debuts At Dillon Saturday Night

After being forced to wait an extra week because of rain, Tyler Dippel and the Trinity Oaks Senior Living Ford are set to make their competitive debut Saturday night at Dillon Motor Speedway in Dillon, SC.

Since being rained out last Wednesday in Anderson, SC, Dippel’s Godfather Motorsports team has been hard at work, converting their Ford Fusion Super Late Model to compete in the PASS Pro Late Model ranks this weekend, as part Saturday night’s “Carolina 200” program at Dillon Motor Speedway.

“Tyler needs seat time,” said Godfather Motorsports owner, Dave Moody. “And with the next PASS Super Late Model race not until August 3, we decided to make the engine and carburetor changes necessary for him to compete in the Pro Late Model class this weekend. It’s a little less horsepower, but for his first time in this type of race car, a little less horsepower may not be a bad thing.”

“I’m excited to get going,” said Dippel. “After unveiling the new car at Trinity Oaks last week, I’ve been itching to strap in and race. I’ve got an amazing sponsor and a great race team behind me, and I can’t thank everyone enough for giving me this opportunity. The residents and staff at Trinity Oaks all said they’ll be rooting for me, so I want to bring home a good finish for them.”

In addition to the PASS Pro Late Models, the Dillon Motor Speedway Modified, Super Truck, Legend Car and Street Stock divisions will be in action Saturday, with gates opening at 2:30 p.m. for rotating practice at 4:30. Time trial qualifying is set for 6:30, with feature racing beginning at 8 p.m. Grandstand admission is set at $12 for adults, with kids age 11 and under admitted free.
