Busch Fined 50K By NASCAR

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Nov. 25, 2011) – NASCAR has fined Penske Racing driver Kurt Busch $50,000 for his actions during the Nov. 20 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

NASCAR determined that Kurt Busch violated Section 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing – inappropriate hand gesture; abusive language) of the 2011 NASCAR Rule Book.

In issuing the penalty, NASCAR cited Kurt Busch's "poor judgment in making an inappropriate hand gesture" when he drove his car into the garage early in the race after it experienced transmission problems. In addition, NASCAR said Kurt Busch showed "disrespect towards a media member" during an obscenity filled tirade directed at ESPN pit reporter Dr. Jerry Punch. NASCAR cited similar inappropriate media confrontations involving Busch earlier in the season in their announcement of the penalty.

I think these fines need to more harsh since these drivers don't seem to be getting the message

50,000 means about as much to bush as 10 cent piece of gum to me....fines dont work people....sit him out one race per gesture or curse word used. Half a season of watching instead of driving might actually do some good.

  5. Who cares about a stupid hand gesture, as a racer I know how hyped up you get in the heat of the moment it's all part of our sport. Nascar needs to find a line that is fair and stick with it.

The way he treated that reporter Busch should have been given a hand gesture, right on his nose, the wanker.

Why we/NASCAR tolerate the Bush brothers is beyond me. How many talented, riderless drivers are available to replace the Bush "kids"? I was really excited when it appeared Kyle had kind of grown/matured. I even gave his some slack when he "faltered". If I had ever acted like the "Bush Kids" act under disguise as "professional car racer" I would have been shown the door. There is no excuse.

The Busch brothers need to remember that it is a privllege to race in NASCAR and enjoy all the benefits that come with it. Maybe if their respective teams made them sit out a year. Like that would ever happen!

Brad K gets a 25,000 fine for spouting off about fuel injection and Kurt gets 50,000 for his f bomb tirade. Unbelievable! Clearly Nascar has no real interest in punishing the Busch brothers. They both need to be on probation for ALL of 2012!
