Vickers is out for the season |
Brian Vickers, who is the fulltime driver of
the No. 20 Nationwide Series Camry for JGR this season, learned earlier this
week that he would have to sit out the remainder of the 2013 season to deal
with health issues.
Denny Hamlin will make his first NASCAR
Nationwide Series start of this season in Texas on Saturday, November 2, while
Drew Herring will take over in the No. 20 Dollar General Toyota on November 9
at Phoenix and the season finale November 16 at Homestead.
Hamlin has at least one start in every season
of the NASCAR Nationwide Series since 2004 and over 140 career starts he has
earned 11 career victories in the Series. He has made 10 career Nationwide
Series starts at Texas Motor Speedway with five top-five and seven top-ten
finishes. He earned a fifth-place finish in this race one year ago.
Herring
has four Nationwide Series starts for JGR in 2013 thus far, having piloted the
No. 54 Monster Energy Toyota in both Iowa races as well as Kentucky. He also
drove the No. 18 Z-Line Designs Furniture Toyota at Bristol Motor Speedway in
August. He has two top-ten finishes in those four races, having finished
sixth at the second Iowa race as well as Kentucky. He also earned the pole in
that second Iowa race back in August. Herring has 13 career Nationwide Series
starts with one top-five and five top-ten finishes to go along with the one
pole award.
