Driver Jerick Johnson and
the Godfather Motorsports/KOMA Unwind No. 30 Super Late Model return to the
race track this weekend in search of a change of luck at the legendary South
Boston Speedway in South Boston, Virginia.
It’s been a long two weeks
of work for crew chief Jim Gallison and the KOMA Unwind team, after sustaining
severe chassis damage in their last outing at Caraway Speedway on May 24.
“We completely stripped all
the suspension, running gear and engine, and straightened the bent front clip,”
explained Gallison. “Fortunately, all the damage was located forward of the
suspension mounts, so we were able to straighten the chassis, rather than
cutting it off and building new.
“We have also replaced the
steel-head motor with our McGunegill Engine Performance crate engine, which we
feel gives us better weight distribution on the short tracks we’ll be running
in the next few weeks. With a little bit of luck – and we’re owed some good
luck after the last three races – we’re hoping for a good night Saturday.”
For the second time this season, the PASS Super Late Model Series
will visit “America’s Hometown Track” for the running of the PASS 150 Saturday,
sharing the spotlight with the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Late Model
Stock Cars, which will run a pair of 75-lap shootouts. Also
scheduled are the touring Legends Series cars, with the first feature race of
the evening scheduled to take the green flag at 7 p.m.
A special fan appreciation session will be held trackside from
5:30 to 6:30 p.m., enabling fans to meet Jerick Johnson and the KOMA Unwind
team, take photos, collect autographs and enjoy a free sample of KOMA Unwind
Liquid Relaxation drink.

About POW*MIA Awareness – Godfather
Motorsports is proud to support the POW*MIA Awareness Campaign. Driver Jerick
Johnson has long been an advocate for veterans’ rights and the United States
military. He is a five-time Distinguished Guest of the American Legion National
Convention and has earned numerous awards from other veterans’ organizations.
Promoting and increasing public awareness of the POW*MIA issue has become his
main goal. `Prisoner Of War: Missing in Action’ refers to any soldier taken
prisoner by the opposing side during an action of war. It is not always known
whether that solider is alive or dead, only that they are missing. Our goal is
to remind our fellow Americans that the greatest tragedy of all is to be
forgotten, and honor those who have given so much. Jerick thanks Godfather
Motorsports for the opportunity to help increase awareness of this issue by
carrying the POW*MIA logo on the No. 30 KOMA Unwind Chevrolet.
