In concert with the Blue
Collar Hero Driver Challenge presented by Circle Track Magazine, one qualified driver
who enrolls in Fast Track’s Advanced Short Track Driver Development Course will
receive a starting bid in the Nov. 2 event at “The Rock.” The course includes
80 laps in a 3,400-pound stock car on Rockingham’s ¼-mile short track -- dubbed
Little Rock – and is designed to develop and fine-tune the skills of approved applicants, from Saturday
night short track drivers to those aspiring to the uppermost levels
of the sport.
Personally designed by 1995
ARCA champion and Indianapolis 500 competitor Andy Hillenburg, the course will
cover driving lines, braking techniques, pit road and race procedures, with an
focus on lap times. Each participant will receive a personal assessment and
evaluation from Hillenburg at the end of the course, and will be automatically
entered for a chance to compete with the Rev Oil Pro Cup Series on the one-mile
Rockingham Speedway.
The course will be
offered on 32 different dates between now and October, allowing
flexibility of scheduling for prospective participants. The Advanced Short
Track Driver Development Course is open to drivers age 16 and up.
