Penske Announces Shell, Pennzoil, Hertz Sponsorships

Penske Corporation made a pair of sponsor announcements yesterday as part of the annual NASCAR Sprint Cup Media Tour.

The team announced that Shell has signed a multi-year extension of their ongoing alliance, while the Hertz car rental and transportation companies have signed on as a new partner.
Shell and Pennzoil will continue sponsoring Penske Racing entries in the NASCAR Sprint Cup and IZOD IndyCar Series, and will continue to be the preferred supplier of fuels, lubricants and related products to the Penske organization.
“Technological leadership drives us forward. The knowledge we gain, on and off the track, supports strong product development,” said Marvin Odum, President of Shell Oil Company. “This alliance, with Penske as one of the world’s most successful transportation businesses, allows us to expand within motorsports and other businesses.”
“We are very proud of the ongoing alliance that has continued to grow between our Penske Corporation companies and Shell and Pennzoil,” said Roger Penske. “This is a relationship that has been strengthened at the racetrack and well beyond. We look forward to working with Shell and Pennzoil for many more years as we continue to build on our success together.”
As part of the agreement, Pennzoil will continue to be the "Official Motor Oil" of Penske Racing. Shell and Pennzoil will continue to be the primary sponsor of the Penske Racing No. 22 car, driven y Joey Logano in 33 races Sprint Cup Series this season. Three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves will continue to represent the Shell and Pennzoil premium brands in 2013, driving the No. 3 Shell V-Power Pennzoil Ultra IndyCar at the Indianapolis 500 on May 26, as well as at the inaugural Shell and Pennzoil Grand Prix of Houston series doubleheader, October 5-6. Shell and Pennzoil will also be associate sponsors on all Penske Racing cars competing throughout the season in the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series as well as the IZOD IndyCar Series.
The Hertz Corporation has also signed a new, multi-year agreement to serve as a primary sponsor for select races on Penske Racing cars in the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series this season. Hertz will be co-primary sponsor on the No. 22 Sprint Cup Ford Fusion driven by Logano in the fall race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. In Nationwide Series competition, Hertz will be the primary sponsor for seven races on the No. 22 Ford Mustang, driven by defending NASCAR Cup Series champion Brad Keselowski, Logano and Ryan Blaney. The No. 22 Hertz Ford will compete in Nationwide Series races at Dover International Speedway (two races), New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Chicagoland Speedway, Richmond International Raceway, Watkins Glen International and Homestead-Miami Speedway.
“We are very happy to welcome Hertz to the Penske Racing family and to the sport of NASCAR racing,” said Roger Penske. “Hertz is a well-established and industry-leading brand worldwide and we are certainly excited to begin this multi-year partnership in 2013 with our teams competing in both the Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series.”
“Hertz looks forward to entering the sport of NASCAR with the championship-winning Penske Racing organization,” said Mark P. Frissora, Hertz Chairman and CEO. “We have established a great relationship with Penske through our car rental operations in Tennessee and it’s a great opportunity to grow this partnership through the winning Penske Racing programs in NASCAR.”
