Body Found Near Talladega Campground, Preliminary Identification Made

Nick Bower vanished May 4
The Talladega, Alabama deputy coroner has confirmed the discovery of a body near the Talladega Superspeedway this morning, just after 11 a.m. local time.

The body has been tentatively identified, but the coroner’s office has made no formal announcement, pending forensic testing and the notification of next of kin. Authorities have been searching for 28-year old Nick Bower, an Indianapolis native who was last seen on Saturday night, May 4. He was last seen by his girlfriend in the South Park camping area outside the speedway.

His girlfriend, Jennifer Boesch, said they did not set up their tent before heavy rain hit the speedway, prompting them to sleep in Bower's pickup truck. Boesch told police she awakened at approximately 12:30 a.m. and discovered Bower missing.

The body was reportedly discovered near a campground along Jackson Trace Road, but there is no word on whether it was the same campground from which Bower disappeared.
