Godfather Motorsports Set For South Boston Speedway

Locked and loaded for SoBo!
Jerick Johnson, Godfather Motorsports and the KOMA Unwind Chevrolet kick off Mother’s Day weekend Saturday night with a 150-lap Pro All Stars Series event at the legendary South Boston Speedway in South Boston, VA.

Billed as “America’s Hometown Track,” the 4/10-mile South Boston oval will feature a full slate of Saturday night racing action, with the PASS South Super Late Models, NASCAR Whelen All American Series Late Model Stocks and Legends cars all on the docket.

“I love South Boston Speedway,” said driver Jerick Johnson. “It’s a true bullring; short straightaways, tight turns and lots of rooting and gouging. There will be plenty of full-contact racing Saturday night, and it’s as exciting for the fans as it is for us drivers.”

Coming off a Top-10 finish in their most recent start at Gresham Motorsports Park two weeks ago, Johnson and crew chief Jim Gallison, Jr. are setting a high bar for the weekend. “We think a Top-5 is well within our grasp,” said Johnson. “In fact, we’ll be disappointed with anything less.”

Practice for all three competing divisions will be held Saturday from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Grandstand gates will open Saturday at 4:30 p.m., with time trial qualifying at 4:30. A Fan Appreciation Session will be held trackside from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m., allowing fans to meet their favorite drivers, take pictures and collect autographs. Johnson and the Godfather Motorsports team will also be handing out free samples of KOMA Unwind Relaxation Drink, ensuring a good night’s sleep after the races.

Feature racing begins at 7 p.m.

About POW*MIA Awareness – Godfather Motorsports is proud to support the POW*MIA Awareness Campaign. Driver Jerick Johnson has long been an advocate for veterans’ rights and the United States military. He is a five-time Distinguished Guest of the American Legion National Convention and has earned numerous awards from other veterans’ organizations. Promoting and increasing public awareness of the POW*MIA issue has become his main goal. `Prisoner Of War: Missing in Action’ refers to any soldier taken prisoner by the opposing side during an action of war. It is not always known whether that solider is alive or dead, only that they are missing. Our goal is to remind our fellow Americans that the greatest tragedy of all is to be forgotten, and honor those who have given so much. Jerick thanks Godfather Motorsports for the opportunity to help increase awareness of this issue by carrying the POW*MIA logo on the No. 30 KOMA Unwind Chevrolet.

I got one of your t-shirts the other day and it is awesome. Also, the decal looks great om the back of my work car. I'll bet I have the only one in Vancouver, Wa.
