Busch Busts Bristol Track Record

They're hauling the mail at Bristol
Kyle Busch broke the track record at Bristol Motor Speedway today, winning the pole for Sunday’s Food City 500 in a time of 14.813 seconds, at 129.535 mph. Busch lowered the existing Sprint Cup Series record at Thunder Valley by .09 seconds, topping Kasey Kahne, Denny Hamlin, Brian Vickers and Paul Menard.

It was Busch’s 11th career pole in his 297th Sprint Cup start, and his first at Bristol in his 17th start there. His best previous start was ninth in August of 2008. The top three cars all broke old track record, and the top 31 drivers were separated by just .3 seconds.

Brian Vickers’ fourth–place qualifying effort continued a string of solid Bristol performances for the Aaron’s Drean Machine Toyota driver. A year ago, he was the only driver to finish in the Top-5 in both races at BMS and he accumulated more points in those races than any other driver.

A total of 44 cars attempted to qualify this afternoon, Scott Riggs was the loe driver to miss the cut in the No. 44 Xxxtreme Motorsports Ford.

  1. It's a good thing for Danica that ever since GoDaddy she hasn't been held accountable. Rookie of the year? Maybe next year or the year after that.
