Danica Named White House Guest Reader

The White House announced today that NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Danica Patrick will serve as a “guest reader” at the annual White House Easter Egg Roll on April 1.

The Stewart Haas Racing driver has had a rough start to the 2013 season, ranking 29th in championship points after five races. She will join NFL star Adrian Peterson, child star and Academy Award nominee Quvenzhané Wallis and characters from Sesame Street and the Super Sprowtz on the list of celebrities scheduled to read to youngsters on the White House’s South Lawn. This year’s 135th annual event also features youth sporting events, music, food and the highlight of the day, the Easter Egg Roll. It is expected to attract a crowd of more than 30,000 people.

Additional readers will be announced each day this week on the White House’s “Let’s Move!” twitter account and Facebook page.

  1. Danica sits on the Egg Roll Pole with her green Godaddy egg. JJ's Lowes egg was disqualified after it was found to have the yolk extracted. Stewart and Harvick had prior engagements and could not make the White House Egg Roll. Ailing Hamlin said he is glad he's not racing, those chicken eggs handle like ostrich eggs. Logano with his new found machismo was DQ-d for blocking and pushing down children in his qualifying effort.

  3. How embarrassing would it be for Danica to get out drafted on the last lap of the egg roll by a five and six year old?
